2Ti 1:8-18. Dan Kroon. There’s a reason so many people have had the bad dream of speaking (or being) in public and discovering they’re wearing nothing but their underwear. Because we hate the idea of losing face – of suffering public disgrace and shame. And it’s that kind of shame that Paul’s talking about in this week’s passage. Fear of losing face because of the gospel or fellow Christians. He’s telling us to get over it. That instead of guarding our pride and wellbeing, we should guard our gospel and faith deposit. And instead of choosing shame, we should choose suffering. Why? Because of the eternity, immortality and entrusted reward that the gospel promises.
